We are seeking an Energy Consultant, with professional experience to help in the delivery of consultancy and innovations projects across the energy and net zero space.

Location: Remote first, flexible working arrangements, with all UK based locations considered. Our flexible office collaboration spaces, for those wishing to use them, are in London, Exeter and Bristol.

Term: Permanent, Full Time

ABSTRACT

We are at the forefront of Local Area Energy Plans, Retrofit, Renewable Energy Assessments, and innovation projects on heat pump deployment.
Our team is continuing to grow and develop in the energy market, so we are looking for applicants who can bring further technical energy expertise and/or energy modelling capabilities to our offer. Some experience in leading energy area planning, policy development and research, is ideal.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an Energy Consultant, with professional experience to help in the delivery of consultancy and innovations projects across the energy and net zero space. The successful candidate will have technical capabilities, as well as the communication skills to represent City Science in front of clients. They will take an active role in projects, delivering technical insights to clients through an open, trusted and consultative approach.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research, modelling, and report writing across a range of energy and net zero projects, including Local Area Energy Plans / Net Zero Pathways, Local Heat & Energy Efficiency Strategies, District Heating Analysis, Renewable & Low Carbon Energy Assessments and Hydrogen Strategies
  • Data analysis, including GIS, Excel, and possibly Python and/or other programming languages
  • Producing high quality content and reports for clients, including technical and financial proposals
  • Developing and delivering expert energy and sustainability advice, analysis and thought leadership

You have experience working within energy systems and are comfortable working with and leading technical elements of energy projects. You’re a great collaborator, committed to success of the team with the flexibility to intelligently adapt your style to the task in hand. Most importantly, you’ve got the drive, ambition, hunger and work ethic to succeed in this fast-moving role.

Essential Requirements:

  • Relevant work experience (at least 1-2 years)
  • Demonstrable technical knowledge and understanding across energy systems
  • Good technical writing capability, and the ability to produce high-quality client reports
  • Professional, consultative and collaborative approach at all times
  • Clear systematic and logical approach to analysis
  • Excel skills, GIS, mapping and visualisation experience
  • Minimum 2.1 degree in a technical or scientific field
  • Knowledge of project budgetary issues and the capability to deliver work to time and budget

Desirable Requirements:

  • Experience delivering decarbonisation strategies
  • Experience with Local Area Energy Planning
  • Experience with Local Heat & Energy Efficiency Strategies
  • Experience with District Heat Networks
  • Programming skills: experience developing modelling in software code e.g. Python
